Competition is fun; it's a joke. Cooperation is serious; it's for real.
Competition forces one to be better. Cooperation forces all to be better.
There cannot be competition without cooperation. If two competing forces are imbalanced, the dominant force loses the opportunity to become optimally proficient while the lesser force loses the opportunity to efficiently improve. The simple solution is that both must find alterantive competitors that match their current status. But in cases where both are confined to the playing field at hand, each must agree to a course of action aggressive enough for the dominant competitor to be forced forward, yet tempered to allow the weaker of the two to rise.
It's sort of an offshoot of the idea that what has become lost in our desire for independence is our opportunity for interdependence.
I have no idea why this is tapping at my head right now. Might have something to do with seeing The Dark Knight tonight.

Just don't put make up on your face and give yourself a red smile.
